Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has reportedly resigned from his position.

Bashir Ahmad, one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aides, confirmed on Friday, March 31, that the minister resigned to contest the next Bayelsa governorship election.

He tweeted;

“Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and former Bayelsa state governor, H.E. Timipre Sylva, has resigned his appointment to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election.”

Sylva was Governor of Bayelsa from 2008 to 2012. He has tried several times to get a second tenure but has failed.
