The Nigerian Army have neutralized one bandit and cleared a criminal hideout in a fierce battle in Chikun Local Government area of Kaduna State.

The troops also, rescued 14 Kidnapped victims after the encounter with the bandits.

Confirming this in a statement on Saturday, Samuel Aruwan Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna said the troops of Sector Four of Operation Whirl Punch and Special Forces of the 167 Battalion cleared the bandit hideout during a fierce encounter.

He said the troops embarked on a long-range fighting patrol to the Tukurua general area of Chikun LGA, engaged and overpowered the outlaws, neutralizing one, with others fleeing in disarray.

He said during the operation, the troops rescued 14 kidnapped victims, comprising nine men and five women, adding that the victims were moved to a secure location for debriefing and examination before being reunited with their families.

He said the troops also destroyed several camps and recovered two motorcycles and that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has commended the efforts of the troops.
