The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Imo on Thursday issued Certificates of Return to 23 winners of the March 18 House of Assembly poll in the state.

The certificates were issued by the Administrative Secretary, Mr Jude Okwuonu.

Okwuonu said the event was in fulfilment of the commission’s mandate to issue certificates of return within 14 days of the election.

He urged the members to understand that they were elected to serve their constituents.

He expressed appreciation to the stakeholders who supported the commission before, during, and after the elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the election in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area (LGA) was declared inconclusive, while that of Isu LGA was marred by violence.

The certificates for Ideato North and Ideato South state constituencies were not issued during the ceremony.

NAN reports that all the recipients of the certificates contested and won on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
