All Progressives Congress (APC) has received some prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, including the Youth leader, Maidamma Tondi.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that others include: Chairman, Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Abdullahi Uhum, alongside 6,084 members of PDP.NAN also reports that the defectors were received by top government functionaries and APC executives from the State and Local Government levels at a rally on Wednesday.
The new APC members cited alleged injustice within PDP, as well Gov. Atiku Bagudu’s developmental strides in their area.They also said that they joined APC sequel to the ”visible performances of APC legislators and other political appointees.
They commended APC for fielding credible candidates for the 2023 General Elections . Addressing the rally, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Babale Umar-Yauri said, “Yauri has been a home of APC for a long time.”In 2015 and 2019 APC was victorious and even in 2023 by the will of God, Yauri will remain under APC.”He outlined various developmental projects executed by Bagudu administration in the area, particularly the establishment of a tomato processing factory.
Umar-Yauri assured APC supporters that he would not relent in wooing more people into the fold of the APC.“We will go from polling unit to polling unit in Yauri to look for more people to join APC,” he vowed. The Chairman APC Elders Forum, Alhaji Sani Hukuma-Zauro said the political development in Yauri had proved that Yauri was still a stronghold of the APC. In his words also, the Personal Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Musa Yaro-Enabo, expressed delight with the development in Yauri.
The State APC Women leader , Hajiya Aishatu Abubakar-Gunabi assured the party of total support from women. She, however, called on women to keep their PVCs in safe places for use during the general elections.
Earlier, the APC State Chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru welcomed the new members from PDP to the APC.He directed the party executives from the local government to integrate them into the affairs of the party at all levels.The Yauri Local Government APC Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Alhassan, assured the defectors of equal treatment.
