Many persons have been feared killed following a tanker explosion along Lokoja-Felele-Abuja road in Kogi State.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident happened on Monday night at about 10 p.m.

Although reports about the incident is still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, an eyewitness told DAILY POST that the tanker, which was fully loaded with petrol, failed break and rammed into other vehicles.

The sources said many persons were burnt beyond recognition, while properties worth millions of naira were lost.

“Tanker explosion is becoming a continuous ritual in Felele-Lokoja-Abuja road. Many People over the years have lost their lives in Felele as a result of tanker explosion and other road accidents. The Federal Government must do something to put a lasting solution to this nightmare in Felele,” an eyewitness said.

The Kogi State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Stephen Dawulung confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Tuesday.

He, however, said one person died as a result of the incident, while two persons who sustained injuries were rushed to the Federal Medical Center Lokoja for medical attention.

According to Dawulung, other victims of the incident escaped.
