Senator Rochas Okorocha on the 24th of May 2022 was arrested in his Abuja home by the operatives of the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission.

According to the commission, the arrest of the former governor of Imo state and the present senator was a result of his refusal to honor their invitation after jumping the administrative bail earlier granted by the commission.

The commission took to its Twitter handle to state that on January 24, 2022, a report was filed on a 17-count criminal charge bordering on diversion of public funds and properties to the tune of N2.9billion against Okorocha, but the senator twice was absent, evading service of processes.

Video of the senator praying and crying when the commission came to carry out the arrest surfaced online and got Nigerians talking.

The video showing how security operatives with the commission invaded his home through the ceiling got different reactions from Nigerians.

Some were of the view that he got a dose of what he allowed others to through and as such shouldn`t groan for public sympathy.

“Rochas was crying to God when EFCC invaded his house. He had a small taste of the trauma Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his family experienced when the army invaded his house. The difference is, that over 30 people were killed in MNK`s House. AS Governor, Rochas supported operation python dance”

 Another user reacting wrote,

“Rochas’s daughter while making a video said, “look at how EFCC is coming to arrest someone that has not done anything”. Girl your papa did the undoable. Your papa is an enabler of the same corrupt system that is hunting him today”

Other Nigerians who were of a different opinion also wrote, to state that how the house was invaded was uncalled for as there are other measures to go about this.

“By breaking into his house through the roof? Is this the best practice? When I saw the video, I thought maybe it was some hired assassins. Na wa oooo”

“I will keep asking, have you ever seen FBI, Interpol, or CIA arresting in this manner?”
