The Provost Marshal (Army),  Maj.-Gen. Aiyenigba Olumuyiwa, has charged Military Police Personnel to sustain best global detention practices in administering detainees in their custody.

Olumuyiwa gave the charge in a statement issued in Lagos on Saturday by the 81 Division’s spokesperson, Maj. Olaniyi Osoba.

The provost marshal said that the commissioning of the newly-renovated 9 Brigade Provost Company Duty Room and Guard Room at Ikeja Cantonment would help to achieve the objective.

“The newly commissioned project includes 19 guardroom cells, interrogation room and duty room. Others are the male and female officer’s detention facilities, Company Sergeant Major office and officers’ office,’’ he said.

Osoba also quoted the Commander, 81 Division Provost Group, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Abubakar, as saying that the renovation of the dilapidated Duty Room aligned with best global standard for detention facility and military police practice.
