There is mixed feeling in Imo State ahead of the Stakeholders meeting where Governor Hope Uzodinma is expected to name the sponsors of insecurity in the state.

The meeting which has now gathered momentum following the recent arrest of a former gubernatorial candidate of the Action Alliance AA, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is attracting attention from all quarters.

Former Governor of the state and Senator Representing Imo West Rochas Okorocha who is also the father-in-law of Uche Nwosu had previously encouraged Governor Uzodinma to ensure he does not fail to name those behind the unusual insecurity in the state with evidence.

Supporters of the former Governor and other opposition members have taken to social media to tag the even ‘Naming Ceremony’, calling it a joke, adding that the governor is not in a position to name those behind insecurity, without a statement from the state police command.

Earlier, a confession video of a previously arrested criminal had the names of Sen. Rochas Okorocha, Hon. Kingsley Uju and Uche Nwosu. Even when there was no evidence against Nwosu and the others mentioned in the video, Imolites are anxiously waiting to see who makes the list.

The meeting of the stakeholders which was previously scheduled to hold at Ahiajoku Convention Center in New Owerri, has been moved to the Government House’s Exco Chamber, while people are expected to join virtually via Zoom on January 4 with meeting ID 844 5508 6666 and Password 754159.

The government has so far denied it, describing it as a poorly scripted fabrication intended to mislead the public.

“plot by those believed to be fueling insecurity, particularly kidnapping, banditry, arson and cannibalism in Imo State ahead of January 4, 2022 Imo stakeholders meeting got to a head on Monday with false news of the alleged arrest of the security officers attached to Governor Hope Uzodimma”

“Governor Uzodimma, it is believed, will use the stakeholders meeting to expose the identities of those behind insecurity and other forms of criminality in Imo State. This has prompted Imo citizens to become more curious to discover the identities of those undermining their peace and prosperity”, a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uzodimma, Marcel Oguwike read.
