At the moment, Senator Rochas Okorocha’a son-in-law Ugwumba Uche Nwosu is attracting sentiment across various angles in Imo State including that of opposition leaders.

Uche Nwosu who has gone through double ordeal of losing his mother and being arrested in a very scary manner has so far attracted a lot of political sympathies as the cold war between the Okorocha dynasty and Senator Hope Uzodinma continues.

Nwosu was arrested in St. Peters Anglican Church Eziama obairein in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State while on the outing service of his late mother.

The arrest has since then been tagged political by Nwosu, Okorocha and other political leaders.

The state chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, John Iwuala who had initially called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to prepare his handover note in advance ahead of the 2023 General election, condemned the manner Uche Nwosu was arrested, adding that the 2019 Action Alliance Gubernatorial Candidate is a victim of political victimization.

Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who was una arguably the most visible politician at the burial ceremony of Uche Nwosu’s mother is reportedly said to have reconciled with the Okorocha family,.

Ihedioha who was the mastermind of various recovery and demolition process against the Okorocha family was previously said to have built a new alliance with Senator Rochas Okorocha which would see the Ogboko born politician move to Peoples Democratic Party PDP, but that scheme never materialized.

Former Owerri Zone Senator and National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwụ had earlier sympathized with the Okoroxha and Nwosu families over the death of their inlaw and mother respectively but is yet to make official statement concerning the arrest.

Political leaders who are not in tune with Governor Hope Uzodimma under the APC have also seen the matter as a rallying ground as tings heat up ahead of 2023.

So far, no politician has officially declared for the Imo Guber seat but it is widely believed that Governor Hope Uzodimma will be running for a second term.

Uche NNwosu, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume are three key politicians expected to join the race while Senator Samuel Anyanwụ is also at the top of the list of potential aspirants.
