An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has remanded two unemployed men in a custodial centre in Lagos for allegedly being in possession of a toy gun.

The police charged 25-year-old Toheed Tajudeen and 27-year-old Segun Jayeola, whose residential addresses were not given, with conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Magistrate Elizabeth Adeola did not take their pleas, but ordered that they should be kept in the Kirikiri Custodial Centre.

The magistrate also directed that the case file should be sent to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Kenrich Nomayo, had earlier alleged that the suspects conspired to own a dummy gun, an act prohibited by the Federal Government.

“The offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015,” Nomayo said.
