There is a likelihood of a political tsunami in the Imo State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, as speculations of a major realignment is rife.
Investigation reveal that the former senator representing Owerri Zone, Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy) will soon take over the PDP structure in Imo State.
Samdaddy who is currently in Edo State as part of the team scrutinizing the PDP aspirants for the forthoming PDP primaries for the guber ticket, Daily Nigerian Horn reliably learnt, was the consensus choice of top party leaders in Abuja to bring reconciliation and peace to the opposition party in Imo State.
According to credible source within the party at the National level, the spate of defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, were a source of worry to the leadership of the party hence the decision to hand over the party to a person who according to them will bring all the warring factions together.
The source went on to reveal that the purported Congress that brought in the present Exco would be disbanded to allow for a proper Congress where all stakeholders would be involved . Daily Nigerian Horn also gathered that the leadership of the party is also looking for a person who can be a rallying point, push the programmes of the party and bring all aggrieved members back hence the choice of Samdaddy.
Another source told the Daily Nigerian Horn that the situation in the party where a single individual dictates everything does not auger well for the party, saying those who wish to join the party are scared of the present situation.
It could be recalled that the state Executive of the party allegedly ractified the suspension of suspended the former senator for what they described as anti party with some of them accusing the former legislator of concluding plans to decamp to the APC.
Political pundits are however of the opinion that with the recent photograph of Samdaddy with the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, and the current assignment in Edo State, the intrigues in the party may soon come to the open.
Recently, top members of the party including the state party chairman, Barr. Charles Ezekwem decamped to the ruling APC citing impunity and unbridled nepotism as their major reasons for leaving the PDP.
