Former Secretary to the Government of Imo State and Chairman,2019 Governorship Inauguration and Handover Committee, Chief(Barr) Chris Okewulonu has expressed confidence that all litigations against the election of the in -coming governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha will end in futility.
He said that Ihedioha’s election was the collective decision of Imo people which cannot be tharwted by any individual.
He stated that it is not the wish of Imo people to go back to the horrible period when the state was held down to whims and caprices of one man, noting that the election of Ihedioha marks the restoration of the people’s government and a clear departure from nepotism and lack of due process in the conduct of government affairs.
Okewulonu spoke on the heels of the inauguration of the committee to organize the ushering in of the new PDP administration in the state with him as the Chairman of the Committee.
He posited that that Ihedioha has “from the beginning, consistently defined an ambitious agenda for his administration that is anchored on high standards of procedure, rigorous adherence to due process, and excellence in the delivery of results.”
He assured that the committee will work hard “in line with the high standards which are expected to constitute the defining hallmarks, in all ramifications of the Ihedioha administration in Imo State
The former SGI contended that with the “calibre and pedigree of members of the Inauguration Committee, Your Excellency has once again demonstrated your unwavering commitment towards restoring sanity, pragmatism and the spirit of thoroughness in the affairs of government, ” adding that the committee’s composition has further confirmed Ihedioha’s avowed disposition towards inclusiveness and excellence in the way the in-coming administration will be operated.
Chief Okewulonu assured that despite the difficulties the committee may encounter as a result of the anticipated non-cooperation from the outgoing administration, the committee will approach it’s assignment with all sense of responsibility and in line with the high expectations of Imo people.
“Your Excellency’s meticulous selection of the committee’s membership from diverse backgrounds, with persons who have distinguished themselves in respective fields of endeavour, will indeed make our assignment less cumbersome, “Chief Okewulonu opined.
It would be recalled that the in-coming Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha had last Tuesday, April 9, 2019, inaugurated the Governorship Inauguration and Handover Committee headed by Okewulonu.
The committee has 13-sub-committees with membership drawn from various strata of human endeavours, a development which has been applauded by Imolites because of its all inclusive nature.
