Chief Dr. John Sunday Enyiogasi popularly known as OK 2000 has said if the Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha had listened to his advice, he would not have lost out in producing his successor in the just concluded governorship election in the state.
The Okwe in Onuimo Local Government Area born astute politician and elder statesman, who stated this to Daily Nigerian Horn in his office in Owerri on Tuesday, said Okorocha should blame himself for his undoing and accept defeat.
It could be recalled that OK 2000 had advised Okorocha to jettisoned his Orlu zone project and choose his preferred successor either from Okigwe and Owerri Zone if he has intention of succeeding.
He congratulated the state governor elect, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and others who won various elective positions including Hon. Paul Emeziem and Hon. Chidi Ogbunikpa, State Assembly members elect for Onuimo and Okigwe LGAs on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The Okpara Okigwe as he is traditionally called also showered encomiums on Sen. Ifeanyi Araraume, governorship candidate of APGA for delivering six assembly seats, namely, Isiala Mbano, Okigwe, Orsu, Nwangele, Ihitte/Uboma and Onuimo during the election.
OK 2000 stressed that Araraume, the Isiebu born political warlord has continually demonstrated that he mean well for the Okigwe zone people, recalling that when Orlu Zone challenged Okigwe Zone to produce Fifty Million Naira for election purpose, it took only the person of Araraume to save the face of the Okigwe people from the shame.
The elder statesman also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Okigwe Zone senatorial candidate, Chief Patrick Ndubueze winner of the poll.
According to him, Ndubueze won the election not only in his local government, Onuimo but in the entire LGAs of the zone, adding that in the interest of peace and fairness, INEC should not delay further in issuing him the Certificate of Return.
He finally commended Imo people for their conduct during the general election and enjoined them to embrace and support the newly elected governor and other elective officers in order to move the state forward.
