The governorship candidate of the United Progressive Party, UPP, Hon.Tony Nwulu, has said his resolve to empower petty traders is not all about campaign strategy to win elections.

Speaking on his behalf, the Director General Mezie Imo Movement, Mr.Kelechi Chukwu said the empowerment programme is a “practical demonstration of our commitment to enhance the welfare of the people who have undergone tremendous hardship in our dear State.

He said the empowerment programme is also an example of the priority Hon.Nwulu has attached to human development when he is elected Governor of Imo State.

He said aside market women, artisans will also benefit from the programme.

According to him, the exercise is targeted in some markets in the 27 local governments of Imo State.

He said it is part of Mezie Imo/UPP arrangement to give greater attention to those who need the required support for thei businesses to grow and thrive.
