As Christian compatriots all over the world celebrate the Messiah’s triumph over death, the Senator representing Imo north in the 8th senate of the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, has called on Okigwe zonal people, particularly Christian faithfuls to use the opportunity of Easter to pray for the unity and progressive development of the zone.

In his Easter message to Ndi Okigwe zone, Senator Uwajumogu emphasised the need for Christians to pray and work together for the unity and development of the senatorial district.

He said in the message, released yesterday in Ihitte-Uboma, by his media office, that Ndi Okigwe should be mindful of the zone’s backwardness in terms of infrastructural development and jettison political party and personal interests for the overall development of the zone and its people.

My belief in our ability to overcome all retrogressive and divisive forces and tendencies to build a strong, united and prosperous Okigwe zone through unity of purpose, infrastructural development and agriculture remains very strong. Am ready to work with any interest group and stakeholder in the zone to develop an environment conducive enough to drive the rapid socio-economic development of our people,” Uwajumogu stated.

Also In the message, Uwajumogu urged Christians to imbibe the ideals of perseverance,love for one another, sacrifice and commitment to the will of God, which underscores the essence of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday and characterised the Lenten season.

While wishing Okigwe people and Imolites a happy 2017 Easter celebration, the Senator added that as Christ liberated mankind from the bondage of sin and death, so shall the people of Okigwe zone be liberated from the age-long tales and woes of under-development and neglect, noting that the vision of connecting the zone to the mainstream politics of the country has started.
