Worried by the adverse effects of erosion degradation in parts of Imo State, the member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru federal constituency of the state in the house of Representatives, Abuja, Hon Henry Nwawuba has sent a save our soul message to the federal government to urgently arrest the situation.

Hon Nwawuba who made the call on the floor of the green chamber of the National Assembly while presenting the bill on erosion control in his federal constituency before his colleagues, asserted that the the issue of erosion palaver has become a source of worry for not only his constituents but to the entire people of the state.

The federal lawmaker, visibly unhappy with the development, highlighted that most communities in his constituency have been cutoff from the outside world, noting that the erosion degradation has gone on unabated in his constituency.

Hon Nwawuba disclosed that communities like Eziama, Ukwuorji, Ogbaku and the Owerri /Onitsha expressway in his constituency need quick rescue and interventionist approaches by the federal government.

According to him, the federal government should as a matter of urgency construct and appropriate funds for the immediate construction of drainages and erosion control facilities along Eziama, Ukwuorji, Ogbaku and other damaged spots of the Owerri /Onitsha expressway so that more damages will not occur.

The financial expert turned politician disclosed that his people are on daily basis faced with the ugly state of erosion menace in the area, adding that if nothing was done immediately to checkmate the tide, the upcoming rainy season would be a disaster in the federal constituency.
