Nollywood stars Osita Iheme and Chinedu Ikediaze (Aki and Pawpaw) are expected to star as goalkeepers in Imo Celebrity Football Match which is part of the event ‘Imo Celebrity Showdown’ packaged by Rejoice Africa who are using football, music and comedy, to bringing to limelight the extra skills of Imo State born celebrities and others around the state and beyond.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the event, the project head and also S.A to Imo State governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha on Youth Matters, Hon Emma Duru said the event will drive the minds of people towards what they have never thought of before when celebrities from all genres of entertainment will storm Imo State for the event.
“Such football matches will show what these celebrities can do aside what they are known for. There will be musical, dance and comedy performances in-between halves as the game is going on.”
He also added that the event will achieve three cardinal things, draw close to two million Imo youth together; make them believe in what they can achieve and also raise fund for charity.
“For the first time we want to draw close to two millions youth to the stadium which is going to be explosive. We’ll make Imo youths happy and let them see what they can achieve within them. We’ll also use the event to raise fund for charity” He added.
The listed foundations to be supported by the proceeds of the event are MTN Foundation, Kanu Heart Foundation and Imo Foundation.
With a crew comprising of musician Tj, radio presenter, OB Fado; Barr. Njoku; music producer, Regiz and others, Hon. Duru believes nothing less than success is assured at the event which is billed for May 10, 2014 at Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri, Imo State.
OB Fado who is in charge of media at the event, called on people to embrace the event to make it a success since it will not only bring to limelight the activities of the celebrities, but also afford the upcoming entertainers an opportunity to showcase their talent.
So far, Osita Iheme and Chinedu Ikediaze (Aki and Pawpaw), are likely to star as goalkeepers for both sides, while the Patience Ozokwo (Mama G) is expected to make an appearance as a coach for a team at the match.
Others celebrities expected at the football match are John Okafor (Mr. Ibu), Flavour, Slow Dogg, Acharaman, Klint Da Drunk, amongst others.
