Two hundred and ninety workers have been thrown into the job market following the one-month suspension slammed on Imo State Traffic Management Authority (IMSTMA) by the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
Gov. Okorocha announced the suspension of the agency after an expanded state executive council held at Government House, Owerri.
The management of the authority also attended the executive council meeting.
The governor said the operations of the agency would be streamlined and fine-tuned with a view to cushioning their harsh effects on road users.

The governor constituted a five-member committee headed by his Chief of Staff (CoS), Sir Jude Ejiogu to carry out the streamlining of the operations of IMSTMA.
However, fillers reaching Nigeria Newspoint indicate that the governor might have made up his mind to scrap the agency.
IMSTMA was established by Law No. 14 of 2011 of the Imo State House of Assembly.
Meanwhile, the suspension of the agency by the state governor has been faulted by some legal practitioners.
Speaking under condition of anonymity, the lawyers stated that it was the suspension of the agency lies within the purview of the state legislature if it finds its operations to be inimical to the society.
They observed that the scrapping of the agency would render its workers jobless mcuyh like the scrapping of the 10,000 Job Scheme.
The lawyers advised the governor to streamline the operations of the agency as against scrapping it, positing that IMSTMA has to a large extent curbed traffic gridlock in the state.
