History was made last week Thursday as 84 year-old veteran politician and educationist, Dr. Nnanna Basil Ukaegbu wedded one of his wives, Mrs. Akunna Ukaegbu.

The matrimony took place at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Parish, Imerienwe in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State.
Dr. Ukaegbu was the closest rival of late Dr. Sam Mbakwe in the Imo State governorship tussle in the Second Republic (1979), the famous election that threw up Dr. Sam Mbakwe as the first civilian governor of Imo State.

It was learnt that several attempts by the priests that had served in his community, Imerienwe Catholic Parish to convince Dr. Ukaegbu to wed proved abortive.
But on what may be seen as a surprise move, after his last trip abroad, Dr. Ukaegbu approached the incumbent parish priest of the community, Very Rev. Prof. Anthony Onyeocha to wed him with one of his wives for according to him, he was directed by God to come for wedding.
Speaking during the wedding mass, Rev. Fr. Onyeocha reminded the Christians of the need for them to remedy their relationship with God as Dr. Ukaegbu had just done in his 80s.
The priest described Dr. Ukaegbu as a great achiever and a veteran educationist and leader who has impacted positively on the lives of many Imo indigenes.
While commending the octogenarian for taking good steps to remedy his relationship with God, Fr. Onyeocha urged him to continue to work in God’s vineyard.
