Troops Repel Boko Haram, ISWAP Attack in Adamawa, Neutralise Six Terrorists

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled a coordinated attack by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on a military base in Garaha, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The military said six terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, with weapons and ammunition recovered from the area.
The Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. He said troops of Sector 4 came under attack at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Garaha at approximately 9:07 p.m.
According to Goni, the attackers advanced on foot from the LAR axis and attempted to overrun the military position. He said the troops responded with superior firepower and coordinated tactics, forcing the attackers to retreat.
A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of six bodies, which the military identified as those of the neutralised insurgents. The troops also recovered a PKT machine gun with three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds, six AK-47 rifles and 11 AK-47 magazines.
Other recovered ammunition included 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one 60mm mortar bomb. The military also listed an Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, a magazine carrier and assorted clothing among the recovered items.
Goni disclosed that troops sustained casualties during the confrontation, adding that wounded personnel were receiving medical attention. He said evacuation arrangements were also ongoing, although the statement did not provide the number of soldiers injured or the extent of their injuries.
Following the encounter, troops maintained heightened vigilance and continued search operations in surrounding areas to prevent further attacks and recover any additional items of operational significance. The military said the response demonstrated the readiness of Operation Hadin Kai personnel to defend their positions against insurgent offensives.
The statement added that the Theatre Command would continue intelligence-driven operations aimed at restricting terrorist movements, protecting vulnerable communities and supporting efforts to restore peace and security across Nigeria’s North-East region.
