NDC Chieftain Galadima Alleges APC Offering Lawmakers N50m, N200m to Drop Tickets

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is offering money and vehicles to some lawmakers and political candidates in an attempt to secure uncontested seats ahead of the 2027 elections.
Galadima made the allegation on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, where he claimed that lawmakers at both federal and state levels were being offered financial incentives to forfeit their tickets in favour of APC candidates.
He alleged that members of state Houses of Assembly who agree to give up their tickets are being offered N50 million, while members of the House of Representatives are allegedly being offered N200 million and a car.
According to Galadima, the alleged payments are part of a broader effort to discourage competition ahead of the general elections. He claimed that President Bola Tinubu and APC governors were afraid of electoral contests and wanted to secure victories without opposition.
“There’s a lady from Zamfara State who is sharing the money in a hotel here in Abuja,” Galadima alleged during the interview.
He further claimed that the woman recently held a meeting with APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, where candidates who had allegedly agreed to withdraw from the contest were presented. Galadima said the candidates had written resignation letters and collected the alleged payments.
Galadima also alleged that some candidates were being persuaded to surrender their tickets in favour of APC candidates, although he did not provide documentary evidence in the remarks supplied for the allegations.
The claims come as political parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with questions over candidate selection, party defections and the strength of opposition parties expected to remain prominent ahead of the polls.
