Bauchi Police Arrest Suspect Three Months After Brutal Murder of 46-Year-Old Man

Bauchi State Police Command has arrested Abdulrazak Sale Kundang, the principal suspect in the alleged murder of 46-year-old Rilwanu Dauda in Karofin Madaki, three months after the incident.

The police said Dauda was attacked and allegedly stabbed with a knife by Sale and other members of his gang on July 5, 2026, at about 9:30am. He was taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for treatment.

Dauda was pronounced dead by a medical doctor at about 11am on the same day, according to the police. The command said Sale remained at large until his arrest on October 5, following information provided by a Good Samaritan.

The police also alleged that the suspects had previously been linked to a politically motivated murder in the same area before disappearing. Efforts are continuing to locate and arrest the other suspects who remain at large.

The development was announced in a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu.

Commissioner Aliyu commended the police operatives involved in the arrest and directed that the case be thoroughly investigated before the suspect is charged to court. He also assured residents that the command would continue efforts to bring those responsible to justice.

“No criminal will have a hiding place in Bauchi State,” the commissioner warned.
