Rick Ross Arrested in Miami Beach Over Alleged Domestic Violence

American rapper Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami Beach over domestic violence allegations, with police records showing he faces felony and misdemeanor battery charges.
Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts, was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at about 6:10 a.m. on Thursday. Court and jail records list a $6,000 bond.
The rapper faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery. Authorities have not publicly disclosed details of the alleged incident or identified the person involved in the charges.
The arrest came days after Ross’s former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, publicly accused him of physical abuse. Kendrick shared images of a swollen lip on Instagram and alleged that Ross caused the injury.
Kendrick also posted statements warning women to leave relationships where they experience physical violence. Her allegations are separate from the criminal charges filed against Ross, and the circumstances behind the case have not been fully disclosed by authorities.
The Guardian reported that police had not provided further details about the alleged incident. The publication also said it had contacted Ross’s representative for comment.
Ross is a longtime Miami resident and has released five albums that reached No. 1. His career includes collaborations with artists such as Drake, DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj.
The rapper released his 12th studio album, Set In Stone, in July. Court records show he has retained attorney Bradley Horenstein, while his arraignment is scheduled for October 22. The allegations have not been proven in court.
