Abiodun Seeks Prayers for APC Ahead of 2027 Ogun Election, Adeola Predicts Victory

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has urged members of the All Progressives Congress to seek divine guidance as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections. He spoke at an interfaith prayer programme organised by the Ogun APC Campaign Council in Abeokuta.
The event, tagged “Victory with God”, brought together Christian and Muslim faithful to pray for President Bola Tinubu, APC candidates and the party’s electoral preparations. Abiodun said the gathering was intended to place God at the centre of the party’s journey towards the 2027 elections.
“We have come here to gather, to pray, to sing, to dance. Both Christians and Muslims are to seek the Almighty’s face and His grace as we embark on the 2027 electoral journey,” the governor said.
Abiodun also reflected on his political journey in Ogun, recalling the difficulties surrounding his emergence as governor. He described the period as turbulent and said the experience reinforced his belief that political power remained subject to God. He also highlighted what he described as achievements of his administration and Ogun’s economic importance.
The governor further spoke about the state’s political transition, expressing hope that the process ahead would remain peaceful. He said the same divine support he believes guided Ogun through previous political challenges would continue to guide the state.
APC governorship candidate Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, also addressed the gathering. Adeola expressed confidence in the party’s prospects and said he expected divine support for his bid to succeed Abiodun as governor.
Adeola also made a political claim that the APC would face no serious opposition in the 2027 governorship election, saying opponents were struggling to organise themselves. His prediction was a statement of his political confidence, rather than an established election outcome.
The prayer programme was attended by APC leaders and supporters, including former Ogun Governor Olusegun Osoba, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly Oludaisi Elemide and state APC chairman Yemi Sanusi. The 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, while governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027. Punch Newspapers
