Moyo Lawal Fires Back at Man Who Age-Shamed Her Over Acting Career

Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has responded to an online critic who questioned why she remains active in the entertainment industry and accused her of denying younger actresses opportunities.
The man allegedly criticised Lawal in a social media comment, claiming she was “not giving younger hoes a chance” and questioning why she had continued working in the industry.
Lawal responded by challenging the motivation behind the criticism and questioning whether her appearance was part of the reason for the attack. She also referred to a past relationship while rejecting allegations about her private life.
“You are pained because I look amazing? Because I left a man who’s feeble brain could not stand losing me and tried to destroy me at a time? Me and sleeping around has nothing in common,” Lawal wrote.
The actress has previously faced intense public scrutiny over her personal life, particularly following the leak of an intimate video involving her in 2023.
Since then, Lawal has repeatedly pushed back against online criticism and attempts to shame her over matters relating to her private and sexual life.
Her latest response adds to the ongoing conversation around age, career longevity and the treatment of women in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, where established actresses continue to face scrutiny over their appearance, relationships and decision to remain professionally active.
Lawal has not indicated that she plans to leave acting, and her response suggests that she does not accept the argument that her continued presence in Nollywood should be viewed as preventing younger performers from getting opportunities.
