TG Omori Reveals Brother’s Kidney Donation Failed After Seven-Hour Transplant Surgery

Popular Nigerian music video director TG Omori has opened up about his difficult recovery journey following a failed kidney transplant, describing the experience as one of the most challenging periods of his life.

Speaking during an appearance on the Afropolitan podcast, Omori revealed that his brother donated a kidney to him after a lengthy search for a compatible donor. However, the transplant was unsuccessful after his body rejected the donated kidney.

The director said his health challenges began in Nigeria, where he received a diagnosis and was placed on medication. He explained that his condition worsened in 2023 while he was in New York, prompting him to seek further medical attention.

According to Omori, doctors later advised him to return to Nigeria to address his condition. He was subsequently referred to a nephrologist, who recommended a kidney transplant after his kidney function continued to deteriorate despite treatment.

Omori said finding a compatible donor took approximately nine months, making the process particularly difficult. When the search became increasingly challenging, his brother volunteered to donate one of his kidneys.

He recounted that the surgery lasted about seven hours, but his body failed to accept the donated organ. The unsuccessful procedure left him devastated, and he said he eventually accepted the situation and shared an update about his condition on social media.

Despite receiving support from family and friends throughout the ordeal, Omori described the recovery period as emotionally difficult. He also spoke about the pain of being unable to create during his recovery, highlighting the personal and professional toll of his health challenges.
