Police have launched an investigation after the bodies of three children were discovered at the residence of a suspected female native doctor in Ideani Community, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The disturbing discovery was made at the woman’s residence, where a fourth person was reportedly found alive and rushed to a hospital for medical examination. The bodies of the deceased children have since been deposited in a mortuary as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed. Community sources said the children were believed to be between six and 15 years old, although officials have not released their names or established the cause of death.
Residents told local sources that the children may have been living or working at the residence. Some claimed they could have been assisting the woman, who is reportedly involved in livestock farming in addition to traditional spiritual practices, while others suggested they might be her biological children. These claims, however, have not been independently verified.
The woman, whose identity has not been made public, was reportedly arrested shortly after the discovery and is currently being detained at the Ogidi Police Division in Idemili North Local Government Area pending the outcome of investigations.
A video circulating on social media showed police officers at the property during the operation, while the suspect was seen being escorted away by security personnel. The footage has attracted widespread reactions online, although officials have urged the public not to speculate until investigations are concluded.
As of the time of filing this report, the Anambra State Police Command had not released an official statement on the incident. Authorities are expected to provide further information after preliminary investigations and forensic examinations are completed.
