The online feud between Nollywood actress Anita Joseph and content creator Caramel Plug has taken a fresh turn, with social media users now split over the influencer’s reaction to the actress’ public apology.
The controversy began after Caramel Plug accused Anita Joseph of deliberately editing her out of a photograph shared online. The allegation quickly sparked debate, prompting the actress to address the issue publicly.
Responding to the criticism, Anita apologised and explained that the incident was the result of an AI-powered photo editing tool, insisting there was no intention to remove Caramel Plug from the image.
Accepting responsibility, the actress admitted the mistake and jokingly blamed her “AI boy” for the error, expressing hope that it would “do better next time.”
However, the apology failed to impress Caramel Plug.
In a pointed response, the content creator wrote:
“Ensure your imaginary AI BOY does better next time. Secondly, I’m not your baby; I really don’t know you.”
Her reaction has since sparked mixed opinions across social media. While some users defended Caramel Plug, arguing that she had every right to reject the apology, many others described her response as unnecessarily harsh, especially after Anita publicly admitted the mistake.
Others questioned Anita’s explanation, saying the claim that artificial intelligence was responsible left room for doubt, while supporters argued that sincere apologies should be met with understanding rather than prolonged public disputes.
Beyond the personalities involved, the incident has reignited conversations about the growing use of AI-powered editing tools in content creation and the controversies they can generate. It also highlights how celebrity disagreements increasingly play out in the court of public opinion, where forgiveness and accountability often divide audiences.
