Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked conversation after describing the entertainment industry as an environment that, in his view, encourages self-worship and values that are contrary to faith.
Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Joey Akan, the actor shared his personal reflections on fame, spirituality and the pressures of life in the entertainment business, saying his perspective changed after deepening his relationship with God.
Jim Iyke argued that many people in the industry become consumed by personal fame and admiration, adding that such behaviour reflects what he considers the “virtues of satanism.”
“There is no bigger enabler than the entertainment industry. This is where demons live. Entertainment is totally created and orchestrated to extol the virtues of Satanism,” he said.
The actor clarified that he was not suggesting God is absent from the entertainment industry. Instead, he said people who wish to maintain a strong spiritual life must make a deliberate effort to pursue their faith.
According to him, creative work can reflect God’s gift of creation, but the entertainment industry often encourages individuals to place themselves at the centre of attention rather than serving a higher purpose.
Jim Iyke also reflected on his own experience with fame, admitting that he once believed he was extraordinary because of the intense reactions he received from fans during the peak of his career.
“I have been there. I have seen people cry when I walked into a room and I looked at them and thought I was special. No, you are not,” he said.
He explained that his understanding of success and significance changed after embracing a deeper spiritual journey, adding that true fulfilment comes from finding one’s place with God rather than seeking admiration from others.
Jim Iyke’s comments reflect his personal religious beliefs and have generated discussion about the relationship between fame, celebrity culture and spirituality within the entertainment industry.
