Fresh tension has emerged in the ongoing dispute surrounding the family of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, as his widow, Omowunmi Aloba, has alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, is hoping for a negative DNA test result involving their son, Liam.

Omowunmi made the claim during a recent interview aired on Channels Television, where she revisited the long-running family feud that has continued since Mohbad’s death in September 2023.

She said the conflict within the family did not begin after the singer’s passing, but stemmed from disagreements that started while he was still alive.

According to her, tensions escalated after the birth of her son and disputes surrounding his naming ceremony, which she said deepened existing family issues.

“It was after I had Liam, because of the naming ceremony issues… it was just a family feud that became something very big,” she said.

Omowunmi added that public perception of the crisis is misleading, insisting that many people assume the disagreement only started after Mohbad’s death.

“A lot of people online feel like it’s all about the demise of my husband. But in reality, it is because of the family feud we had before his death,” she explained.

The widow also alleged that shortly after Mohbad’s death, discussions initiated by her father-in-law centred more on the singer’s property and royalties than on emotional support.

She claimed that during a phone call at the time, she expected comfort but was instead confronted with conversations about assets.

“I was tense and scared… he wasn’t saying what I needed to hear. He was just talking about my husband’s property,” she alleged.

Omowunmi further accused Joseph Aloba of being fixated on the outcome of the DNA test involving her son, Liam, suggesting that he expects a result that would cast doubt on the child’s paternity.

“What he actually wants can never happen. He wants the DNA of my child to be negative,” she said.

She expressed concern that the situation has deteriorated beyond reconciliation, stating that resolving the family conflict may no longer be possible.

“It has really got to a point that I don’t think this whole family feud can be settled anymore,” she added.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances, triggering nationwide protests, investigations, and ongoing legal and family disputes.

His body was later exhumed for autopsy following public pressure for justice, while disagreements over paternity, inheritance, royalties, and the circumstances of his death have persisted into 2026.

Joseph Aloba has consistently demanded a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity before the singer’s final burial, while Omowunmi maintains that she has never opposed the test and insists her son is Mohbad’s biological child.
