Plateau State authorities have arrested individuals who threatened attacks in Jos following Ramadan, the Joyce Ramnap confirmed in an interview on Tuesday.

The announcement comes after at least 20 people were killed and several others injured when heavily armed assailants attacked the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area on Sunday.

Ramnap told Arise Television that no government can act on threats of attacks before they occur, stressing that everyone has a responsibility to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.

She explained that the arrest, investigation, and prosecution involve multiple agencies: “When arrest is done, it may not go through the military. The arrest will go through the police, the investigation will follow a set channel, and the prosecution will go through the judiciary. It’s a whole team working together to bring a lasting solution.”

The commissioner added that the Deputy Inspector-General of Police recently visited Plateau to oversee the investigation and emphasized the need for further arrests and accountability.
