Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two suspected informants believed to be linked to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrest was confirmed in a post on Thursday by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his X account, following a coordinated military operation based on credible intelligence.
Security sources said the suspects were picked up around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the Mainok area after troops received reports of suspicious movements. Personnel of the 156 Task Force Battalion were quickly deployed and intercepted the suspects as they attempted to move along the Goni–Masari axis.
The individuals were reportedly found in possession of electrical cables at the time of their arrest, a detail that raised concerns over possible sabotage or support for terrorist activities in the region.
According to the sources, the suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary investigations to determine their roles and any possible links to terrorist networks.
The development, security sources noted, underscores the growing importance of community-based intelligence in supporting ongoing counter-insurgency operations across the North-East.
They also reaffirmed that troops remain vigilant and committed to denying terrorist groups freedom of movement and operational capacity within their areas of responsibility.
