The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three siblings by a recently arrived tenant in Nwezenyi village, Igbeagu community, Izzi Local Government Area.

The victims — Favour, Obinna and Kamso Okeoha — were reportedly taken on Saturday while their parents were away. Authorities have identified the suspect as a woman who had only recently rented an apartment in the area.

“Investigation has been launched to locate and rescue the children,” Ukandu said.

The abduction has left residents of the community shaken. Neighbours noted that the suspect had only moved into the compound on Friday after renting the apartment on Thursday, raising concerns about the speed and premeditation of the act.

“She stayed just one day before the children were abducted. We do not even know her identity,” a resident told reporters.

Another neighbour added that the woman initially appeared friendly, even painting her room and inscribing “One Love” on the wall, allegedly to create a positive impression among tenants.

Rising Child Abduction Concerns

The parents of the abducted children were unavailable for comment, while sympathisers gathered near the compound awaiting their return.

This incident adds to growing concerns about child safety in Ebonyi State. In February 2026, three children were abducted from a compound at Nkwegu, opposite the Nkwegu Military Cantonment gate in Abakaliki Local Government Area. The victims included a two-year-old boy and two girls aged four and two.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities while investigations continue.
