YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon — Eleven players of Nigeria’s Super Falcons have arrived in Yaoundé as the team kicks off preparations for their upcoming friendlies against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, DAILY POST reports.

Camp Opens with Key Players Present

The camp officially opened on Tuesday with the arrival of head coach Justine Madugu, his assistants, and backroom staff. Early arrivals among the squad include captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Monday Gift, Demehin Tosin, and Christy Ucheibe.

Other players in camp are Ngozi-Okobi Okeoghene, Ogbonna Glory, Christopher Precious, Omewa Joy, Onyenezide Esther, Oloko Fatima, and Nkwocha Favour. Fourteen more players are expected to join ahead of the first training session, scheduled for later tonight.

Friendlies Serve as Key Preparation for WAFCON 2026

Nigeria will face Cameroon in two friendlies, with the first match set for Saturday and the second on Tuesday next week. These games are part of both nations’ preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, offering critical match practice ahead of the continental tournament.

Head coach Madugu and his technical team aim to assess player form, team chemistry, and tactical options before the competitive fixtures.

“We are focused on building cohesion and getting the squad ready for WAFCON 2026. These friendlies are vital for our preparation,” Madugu said.

The Super Falcons are expected to use the camp period to finalise their roster and fine-tune strategies ahead of Africa’s premier women’s football championship.
