Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has issued a stern warning to online trolls and digital platforms spreading false stories about her family, signalling a tougher legal stance against misinformation in 2026.
The award-winning actress spoke out on Monday after the release of a TikTok content creator and blogger, Eedie Bliss, who had alleged that Mercy Johnson’s husband purchased a mansion for an alleged mistress who later became pregnant. The claims circulated widely online before being challenged by the actress and her family.
Eedie Bliss was released from detention on Saturday, January 17, 2026, following public outcry. Reacting to the development in a video posted on her Instagram page, Mercy Johnson confirmed that her family decided to withdraw the charges against the blogger.
“We have decided to withdraw the charges against the lady in question because of the love and respect we have for the numerous individuals who reached out,” she said.
However, the actress made it clear that the decision should not be mistaken for weakness. Looking ahead to the new year, Mercy Johnson warned that she would no longer tolerate false rumours or malicious reports targeting her and her loved ones.
“It’s no longer going to be business as usual,” she said. “Some people just won’t leave me and my family alone, and going forward, court cases will be part of how I address these things.”
In her message to fans, Mercy Johnson expressed gratitude for the continued support of her career while stressing the emotional toll of online falsehoods on public figures and their families.
The actress’s statement comes amid growing concerns over the spread of unverified celebrity gossip on social media and renewed calls for accountability among bloggers and digital platforms in Nigeria’s entertainment space.
