Edo State lawmaker Okaka Eric says embattled MP Natasha Osawaru could be pardoned by the State House of Assembly if she appears before its Ethics and Privileges Committee and shows genuine remorse following her public confrontation with music icon 2Baba. Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency, was summoned after video clips surfaced showing a heated exchange between her and the singer, later escalating during an Instagram Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze.

During Monday’s plenary, the House ordered her to appear before the committee within seven working days to respond to allegations of misconduct. Eric told Sunday PUNCH that although the Assembly would never deprive her constituents of representation, its willingness to be lenient would depend on her conduct before the committee.

Committee chairman Eugene Inegbeboh confirmed that the panel is on a fact-finding mission and expects Osawaru to present her side despite having recently given birth. The situation has drawn renewed attention to a series of controversies surrounding 2Baba, including a separate incident in London in which police reportedly intervened.

The latest clash erupted after former associates Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan accused Osawaru during a livestream of exerting excessive control over the singer’s life and career. Moments after 2Baba joined the conversation, tensions escalated between the couple, prompting the abrupt end of the broadcast and sparking concerns about the star’s image and emotional well-being.

Industry veterans have weighed in, with filmmaker Charles Novia revealing that 2Baba and his former wife Annie separated over two years ago and suggesting that the dismantling of the singer’s professional support system may have worsened his struggles. Others, including creator Nasboi and talent manager Teebillz, have urged the musician to prioritise his mental health.

Rapper Jesse Jagz described 2Baba as a cultural pillar whose stability is vital to the Nigerian music industry, while family therapist Praise Fowowe appealed for empathy, noting that public crises often mask deeper emotional issues. The singer has since appealed to fans for calm, insisting he is fine, even as his wife remained silent when contacted, ending a call abruptly.

Questions have also resurfaced about Osawaru’s past relationships, including claims linking her to a man reportedly fathering her son. However, checks by Sunday PUNCH found no verified public records confirming the alleged union or any associated disputes.
