Singer Davido’s first babymama, Sophia Momodu, has publicly stated that she has not received child support from the music star, asserting that she has been solely responsible for raising their daughter, Imade Adeleke, for the past five years.
Sophia shared her position in a detailed Instagram story on Wednesday, describing what she called an attempt to spread false narratives regarding her daughter’s well-being. She emphasised that despite the absence of financial support from Davido, Imade is thriving in a loving and secure environment.
“I have not received any child support from Davido, but our child knows no lack. She’s growing in a safe and loving environment and she is very happy,” Sophia wrote. She highlighted that Imade maintains a positive and healthy relationship with both parents.
The revelation comes in the wake of online criticism directed at Sophia for allegedly preventing Imade from attending Davido’s 33rd birthday celebration in Atlanta. Some social media users accused her of restricting the child’s access to her father’s event.
Sophia urged netizens to stop involving her daughter in fabricated stories and to respect her privacy, stressing that spreading misinformation harms the child rather than either parent. She reiterated that her primary focus remains Imade’s safety, happiness, and holistic development.
Observers note that Sophia’s post underscores the broader challenges faced by single parents navigating public scrutiny while protecting their children from media sensationalism. The situation has reignited debates around parental responsibility, child support, and celebrity accountability in Nigeria.
As the story circulates online, fans and followers have expressed mixed reactions, with some supporting Sophia’s stance on child welfare, while others continue to debate the role of celebrity fathers in publicly funded child-rearing responsibilities.
