Actress and entrepreneur Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has opened up about her marriage to Afrobeats star Mr Eazi, describing him as her “best friend” and the only person she could imagine spending her life with.
In an interview with the BBC, Temi explained that her decision to marry the singer went beyond love, resting on deep companionship and shared values.
Asked why she said “yes” to Mr Eazi, she replied:
“There’s too many [reasons]. First and foremost, he is my best friend. That’s my person. And I think when you meet your person, you know. I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else. He’s the person I’m excited to spend every day with; to build our lives together, walk through ups and downs, celebrate together, and solve problems together. He’s simply my person. We’re just excited for what is to come.”
On her decision to adopt her husband’s surname, Temi stressed that it was her personal choice:
“I’m now a married woman, and the obvious thing for me was to take my husband’s name. But it’s my decision, and I respect that every woman has the right to choose.”
She also noted that keeping her relationship largely private has allowed her to control her narrative: “Moving in silence allows you to build your own story and share it when you’re ready.”
Temi and Mr Eazi tied the knot a few weeks ago in a private ceremony in Iceland, where Grammy-winning American musician John Legend performed for the couple.
The marriage between one of Nigeria’s most admired celebrity couples has since sparked discussions across social media — with fans praising the simplicity of their love story and Temi’s candidness about her decision.
