Kylian Mbappé has etched his name deeper into Champions League history, moving level with Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller in the competition’s all-time scoring chart.

The Real Madrid forward struck twice in Tuesday night’s 2-1 victory over Marseille at the Santiago Bernabéu, taking his tally to 57 Champions League goals.

The 26-year-old Frenchman has now leapfrogged several European greats and sits sixth in the standings, with only Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema and Raúl González ahead of him.

Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid in the summer, has made a blistering start to his debut Champions League campaign with the Spanish giants, underlining his reputation as the heir to football’s modern greats.

His brace against Marseille not only secured Madrid’s second group stage victory but also marked a personal milestone that places him alongside some of the greatest forwards the game has ever seen.

With age firmly on his side, many fans and pundits believe Mbappé is destined to close in on Benzema and Raúl in the coming seasons – and perhaps one day challenge Messi and Ronaldo’s legendary records.
