Wikki Tourists have declared a 10-day rest period for their players and technical crew following their triumphant return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/2026 season. The announcement came during a celebratory banquet hosted Tuesday night in Bauchi, where club officials praised the team’s resilience throughout the grueling campaign.

The break, which runs from Wednesday, July 16 to Friday, July 25, is aimed at helping players physically and mentally recover before the pre-season begins. Management confirmed that the team will reconvene on July 26 for fitness assessments and training camp ahead of NPFL preparations.

Wikki Tourists, nicknamed the “Bauchi Elephants,” clinched their promotion slot after finishing among the top two in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight playoff held in Enugu earlier this month. They defeated Heartland FC and drew with Bendel Insurance to secure a return to the topflight after spending one season in the second tier.

Club chairman Alhaji Balarabe Yusuf commended the players and coaching staff for their commitment and discipline, adding that promotion was non-negotiable from the start of the season. He also hinted at upcoming signings to strengthen the squad.

Technical adviser Usman Abdallah lauded the management for their support, pointing out that the team faced multiple challenges—including away losses and injuries—but maintained belief and focus until the final whistle in Enugu.

Fans across Bauchi State have already begun celebrating the team’s return, with social media awash with messages of congratulations. Local businesses are also gearing up for increased matchday commerce when NPFL action resumes later this year.

With the team now back in Nigeria’s elite league, Wikki Tourists have vowed to not just compete, but to become a dominant force again—one that honors the rich football culture of Bauchi.
