The Senate on Wednesday received a formal request from President Muhammadu Buhari to confirm the nomination of Umar Yahaya as Co-Chairman of the Governing Council of Unclaimed Trust Funds.

The request was contained in a letter dated June 3.

The letter was read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, at the start of plenary on Wednesday.

President Buhari, in the letter, explained that his request was made pursuant to Section 77(5) of the Finance Act 2020.

The Senate also received a request to confirm the nomination of Joe Aniku Ohiani as the substantive Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the request is contained in a letter dated June 6, and read by Lawan.

The confirmation request, according to Buhari, is in accordance with the provisions of Section 22(1)(a) of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (Establishment) Act, 2005.
