Makinde’s Budget Adviser, OYSIEC Member Resign as More Aides Leave Oyo Government

The Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana, have resigned their appointments.
Both officials announced their decisions in resignation letters dated Monday, November 3, 2026, stating that their departures would take immediate effect.
Oyeleke, a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and local government chairman, said he was no longer comfortable with the working environment in the Makinde administration. He described the atmosphere as unconducive to effectively pursuing and fulfilling the aspirations of his people within the government.
Despite his decision to leave, Oyeleke thanked Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support. He also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development programmes.
Falana, who is from Ogbomoso, also submitted his resignation in a letter addressed to the governor through the Chief of Staff. He thanked Makinde for appointing him to serve on the state’s electoral management body, describing his experience as worthwhile.
However, Falana did not state why he was leaving the commission.
Their resignations came shortly after the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, also submitted his resignation. The development follows the earlier departure of Makinde’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, who had also resigned from the administration.
The latest exits come amid emerging political realignments in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, the resignation letters cited in the report do not establish whether the departures are connected to the evolving political situation.
