Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Dissolves State Executive Council Ahead of Second Term

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has dissolved the State Executive Council ahead of his inauguration for a second term on October 16, 2026. The decision affects commissioners and other political appointees who served in his first term from 2022 to 2026.

The dissolution was announced during the council’s valedictory meeting held in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. The governor thanked the outgoing members for their service as his administration prepares for a new term.

However, three senior officials have been exempted from the dissolution and will retain their positions. They are Chief Press Secretary Yinka Oyebode, Chief of Staff Oyeniyi Adebayo, and Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habitat Adubiaro.

Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the outgoing council members for their support, dedication and commitment to the state over the past four years.

He said their contributions had been important to the achievements recorded by his administration during its first term. The governor also recognised their efforts in carrying out government policies and programmes.

According to Oyebanji, the council members played significant roles in implementing initiatives linked to his administration’s development agenda.

The dissolution comes ahead of the governor’s second-term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026. The statement did not provide details on when a new State Executive Council would be constituted or who might be appointed to the vacant positions.
