Court Remands Woman Over Alleged Cyberstalking of Folashade Okoya

The Federal High Court in Lagos has remanded 35-year-old Ifeoma Nwafor at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over alleged cyberstalking of the Managing Director of Eleganza Industrial City Limited, Mrs Folashade Okoya.
Nwafor was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and alleged cyberstalking of Okoya, who is the wife of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya. She pleaded not guilty to all three counts.
The police alleged that Nwafor and others, who are still at large, conspired in June 2026 to commit a felony at the Lekki-Epe Expressway area of Lagos. The prosecution further alleged that she used several Instagram accounts to publish materials concerning Okoya that it described as offensive, false, malicious and calculated to cause annoyance, injury, fear, intimidation, enmity or needless anxiety.
According to the prosecution, the accounts allegedly used included @cutie_juis, @truestorieswithifeomafa and @truestorieswithifeomafans. Police also alleged that photographs of Okoya were published alongside materials they described as derogatory and calculated to invite mockery, ridicule, gossip, suspicion and scandal.
Following Nwafor’s plea, her lawyer, O.J. Aduwa, applied for bail under relevant provisions of the Constitution and assured the court that his client would make herself available throughout the trial. Prosecuting counsel, Stanley Nwafoaku of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, did not oppose the application.
Justice Deinde Dipeolu subsequently granted Nwafor bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum. The court ordered that the sureties must reside within its jurisdiction, with one being a blood relation of the defendant. They were also required to provide evidence of three years’ tax payment, National Identification Numbers, photographs and affidavits of compliance.
The judge further ordered Nwafor to swear to an affidavit undertaking to make herself available for trial. However, she was remanded at the Kirikiri Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.
The prosecution said the alleged offences contravened Sections 516 and 24(2)(1)(a) and (b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015. Nwafor told the court that she was from Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State but was born in Lagos and attended schools in Lagos before graduating from Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Osun State. The case was adjourned until November 8, 2026, for trial.
