Abia Reinstates Homeland Security Official After Investigation Clears Her of Allegations

The Abia State Government has reinstated Tochi Oluebube, Deputy Director of Logistics at the Abia State Homeland Security Agency, following the nullification of her dismissal after a government investigation cleared her of allegations of misconduct.
Oluebube resumed duty in Umuahia after her dismissal earlier in 2026. She had also been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Umuahia over allegations including misconduct, theft and vandalism, which she repeatedly denied.
According to the report, an investigation panel set up by the state government reviewed her case after she submitted a complaint. The panel reportedly found that she had established her case, prompting the government to overturn the dismissal.
The Acting General Manager of the Abia State Homeland Security Agency, Chukwunenye Alajemba, welcomed Oluebube back to the office and apologised for the circumstances surrounding her removal. He said Governor Alex Otti had directed an investigation after she raised concerns about her dismissal.
Alajemba explained that the governor subsequently ordered that Oluebube’s dignity be restored and that she be returned to her former position. He described the decision as a corrective step following the findings of the investigation panel.
The acting general manager also accepted responsibility for the circumstances that led to the dismissal, saying the decision had been taken when the available facts were unclear. He acknowledged that the agency had acted in haste.
“We made a decision in a hurry. And when I say ‘we,’ I mean including me. So, we all bear responsibility for what happened to Tochi,” Alajemba said.
He further apologised to Oluebube, describing her as a victim of circumstance and stating that she was not a thief. Her reinstatement follows the government’s review of the case and its decision to nullify the earlier dismissal.
