Imo Governor Approves Immediate Recruitment of 6,030 Teachers

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved the immediate recruitment of 6,030 teachers to strengthen teaching and learning in primary and secondary schools across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, disclosed this, saying the recruitment was part of the state government’s broader efforts to improve the education sector.

According to Emelumba, the newly recruited teachers have completed a six-week intensive training programme at the state-owned Ben Uwajimogu College of Education, Ihitte Uboma.

He said the recruitment was aimed at filling existing vacancies and addressing gaps in teaching and learning across Imo State’s 27 local government areas.

Emelumba described the recruitment as a significant addition to the state’s school system, noting that such a large number of teachers had not been recruited into the system at once for a long time.

“This is the first time in a long time that this large number of teachers is being injected into the school system at once,” the commissioner said.

He added that the governor would personally address the newly recruited teachers at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre in Owerri.

The meeting, scheduled for 10am, is expected to provide an opportunity for the teachers to meet with the governor as they prepare to begin their roles in schools across the state.
