Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders and stakeholders across Bauchi State have announced plans to leave the party and join the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached at a meeting held at the Old Banquet Hall of the Bauchi State Government House, attended by party figures from ward and local government levels as well as state-level stakeholders.
The group reaffirmed its support for the APM and its candidates and appealed to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed to set a date for their formal defection to the party.
PDP Bauchi State Deputy Chairman Falalu Attah said the meeting was convened by the party leadership to coordinate support for APM candidates across the state ahead of the elections.
He said the objective was to ensure that PDP members in Bauchi worked together in support of the APM during the 2027 polls.
The state PDP chairman, Pharm Samaila Adamu Burga, described Governor Mohammed as a product of the PDP and linked his administration’s achievements to the party.
Burga called for continued support for the governor and the APM candidates, arguing that such backing would promote continuity and good governance in the state.
The PDP state secretary, Bakoji Aliyu Bobo, said the decision to support the APM was taken in what the group considered the best interest of the state’s political system.
He added that the group would embark on mobilisation across communities in Bauchi to build support for APM candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development could reshape the political landscape in Bauchi as parties and political blocs intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential, governorship and legislative elections.
