FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has taken a vacation after more than 30 days of commissioning projects, launching new developments and inspecting ongoing infrastructure works across the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, announced the minister’s vacation in a post on X on Monday, describing it as a break after an extended period of official engagements.
Olayinka said Wike spent the period moving around the FCT to inspect and review projects, with particular attention given to projects scheduled for commissioning in December and January.
“Holiday time for Nyerisi. He is somewhere in the world, relaxing after spending over 30 days, commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing ones,” Olayinka wrote.
The minister has in recent weeks been involved in several project commissioning and inspection exercises as the FCT Administration pushes to complete major infrastructure projects across Abuja and its surrounding areas.
Since his appointment as FCT minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2023, Wike has focused heavily on road construction, rehabilitation of existing infrastructure, public facilities and development projects in satellite towns.
His latest break comes while work continues on projects that the FCT Administration expects to complete and commission in the coming months.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, has remained a prominent figure in the Tinubu administration, with his activities in the FCT frequently centred on infrastructure delivery and monitoring of government projects.
The minister is expected to resume his official duties after the vacation as the FCT Administration continues its programme of project completion and commissioning.
