IGP Olatunji Disu Approves Major Police Shake-Up, Deploys Commissioners Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the deployment of several Commissioners of Police to state commands and strategic units across Nigeria as part of efforts to improve policing operations and strengthen leadership within the Nigeria Police Force.

The Force said the new postings followed the approval of recommendations submitted by the IGP to the Police Service Commission. It described the exercise as part of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the police for better service delivery and improved operational efficiency.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Iniedu Okokon, announced the deployments on Thursday, listing new Commissioners of Police assigned to various state commands. The affected states include Abia, Plateau, Bayelsa, Anambra, Edo, Jigawa, and Delta.

Among the newly appointed state commanders are Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo for Abia State, Ayodeji Faniyan for Plateau State, Saka Adewale Ajao for Bayelsa State, Ajo Geofrey Orduen for Anambra State, Nanna Oji Ama for Edo State, Patrick Daaor for Jigawa State, and Tani Murtala for Delta State.

Several senior officers were also deployed to strategic departments and formations, including the Force Intelligence Department, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Police Staff College, and Nigeria Police Academy.

The IGP charged the newly deployed officers to use their experience to improve intelligence-led policing, strengthen security operations, promote professionalism, and deepen cooperation between the police and communities they serve.

According to the Force, the officers are expected to uphold discipline, accountability, and commitment to protecting lives and property while delivering effective policing services across the country.

The Nigeria Police Force said strategic personnel deployment remains a key part of its reform agenda, aimed at improving internal capacity, enhancing operational performance, and building a more responsive security institution for Nigerians.
