Motorists in Abuja are paying less for petrol after MRS filling stations and other fuel retailers introduced fresh price cuts following a reduction in the cost of products from Dangote Refinery.
A market survey on Monday found that MRS stations in Abuja and surrounding areas had reduced the pump price of petrol from ₦1,260 to ₦1,210 per litre, representing a ₦50 reduction.
Other major retailers have also adjusted their prices. AA Rano and some other filling stations along the Kubwa Expressway were selling petrol at about ₦1,275 per litre, down from around ₦1,300.
The latest reductions come days after Dangote Refinery announced lower prices for petrol and Automotive Gas Oil, commonly known as diesel.
The refinery’s price adjustment has continued to influence retail prices as marketers review their pump rates in response to changes in their supply costs.
The latest development also follows another round of fuel price cuts recorded about eight days earlier, when MRS and other filling stations reduced petrol prices by between ₦25 and ₦45 per litre.
The repeated reductions could offer some relief to motorists and businesses that have faced high fuel costs, although pump prices remain different across locations and filling stations.
Retail prices may also continue to change depending on depot prices, transportation costs, supply conditions and individual marketers’ pricing decisions.
